After spending the entire day shooting this carpet bloom of owls clover and popcorn flowers the sun had just dropped behind the sierras off left frame. Due to the softness of dusk's light I used a fill flash to brighten the foreground.
My thanks go to Carol Leigh for her helpful Wildflower Hotsheet for making this picture possible. Without the specific directions posted on her board I never would have found this surreal location.
