Another shot from the layered series, this photo shows more evidence of the ancient alluvial layers. Directly over the San Andreas faultline, the uplifing over time has brought the elevation to 4600 ft here. On what would other wise be a barren hillside, the dark green foilage left of frame marks the spot of a small seasonal spring.
