monolopia and painted hills

1988 was my second year for hunting desert wildflowers. This specific carpet of Monolopia in the fore is one of the few desert annuals that appears yearly in the exact same spot regardless of the rainfall. This lonely patch can be seen miles away as a brilliant yellow circle on the hills.
The palette of colors in the background is a mix of Poppies and Coreopsis.
